Yesterday, I brought some egg tarts, chicken nuggets, corn, baked bread slices, two bottles of boiled water (750ml + 500ml), three bottles of drinks, and a dual-line kite. I took a taxi to the subway entrance, which was 1.2 kilometers away. I felt it was not worth it. Usually, I walk home on the way back, and I always feel like there's not enough time when going there.
When I arrived, I first went to the bathroom to wash my hands, then found a suitable spot to start eating and drinking. At that moment, I felt the wind was really strong, and it felt like my bag was being blown away. I had to press it down to keep it in place.
I started flying the kite. The dry beach was filled with tents, and there were people coming and going. There was some risk in making money with the wind. I moved away from the tents to a wetter part of the beach to fly. When a gust of wind came, the kite line got tangled together, and it went straight up into the sky, spinning uncontrollably. It spun for about a minute before crashing into a pile of rocks by the sea. I asked my son if the kite was broken, and he said it was. I ran over to check, and it wasn't a big problem; it had fallen apart mainly because some clips had come off. It wasn't a big issue, so I reassembled it and continued flying, but I had to change locations.
I held the kite while my son held the two handles, about 25 meters apart. We moved forward and backward, trying to keep the line close to the beach when people passed by. Once we reached a suitable position, everything was ready, and we waited for the wind. When the wind came, the kite flew up for about a minute, but then it stopped, and the kite drifted down as if the line had snapped. This happened a few times, and my son wanted to drink water. I waited a few more minutes, but there was no wind. Alright, I guess it counts as flying. Time to pack up.
After packing up, a strong wind picked up, and I felt like my hat was about to blow off. A tent got blown askew. This fisherman's hat doesn't have a stiff brim; it's not very firm or shaped. Looking at it now, it has its advantages; it becomes soft and floppy when the wind blows, making it less likely to be blown away.
My wife went to take pictures of the waves and found that only recording video made it easier to capture the biggest splashes. Then she realized in the group chat that timing the stock market to buy low and sell high is indeed very difficult.
When we went, it was low tide, and the high tide was over ten meters away. Before we left, I carved some words on a flat stone, and then my kids also started writing and drawing.
On the subway, I witnessed a scene: a family of three. When the mom jumped onto the train, the doors closed at that moment. The dad, holding the child, waved, and then the mom communicated with the dad that they could only get off at the next stop to wait.
There was also cosplay on the subway, but I didn't recognize any of them.
